New nanomedicine slips through the cracks, reaches brain

In a recent study in mice, researchers found a way to deliver specific drugs to parts of the body that are exceptionally difficult to access. Their Y-shaped block catiomer (YBC) binds with certain therapeutic materials forming a package 18 nanometers wide. The package is less than one-fifth the size of those produced in previous studies, so can pass through much smaller gaps. This allows YBCs to slip through tight barriers in cancers of the brain or pancreas. from Top Technology News -- ScienceDaily https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/04/190424083400.htm

Energy-saving new LED phosphor

The human eye is particularly sensitive to green, but less sensitive to blue and red. Chemists have now developed a new red phosphor whose light is well perceived by the eye. This increases the light yield of white LEDs by around one-sixth, which can significantly improve the energy efficiency of lighting systems. from Top Technology News -- ScienceDaily https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/04/190424102218.htm
